Rejuvenation.

Most things in life that are worthwhile do not come easy. They normally take time, much effort and perseverance, if one is to succeed. That simple fact should never deter you from pursuing those things in your life that are important, and which you feel you are meant to be doing. The rewards for such efforts are tremendous, and are a major part of the fulfillment that is possible for us in this life.

However, when we are involved with something that takes so much of our time and energy over such a long period of time, it can be exhausting. We can become weary, run down and dull. If this happens, and more importantly to prevent it from happening, we need one thing; rejuvenation.

We can experience rejuvenation in many different ways. It can be physical rest. Or, it can be time away from whatever project we’re working on. It can be engaging in some fun hobby or other recreational activity. Whatever it is, we must remember that it is just as vital to the success of our effort as the effort itself. The reason it is so vital is that if we don’t make sure to rejuvenate from time to time, we run the risk of become so dull, frustrated or even disillusioned, that we give up or abandon our effort. This happens all too often, in my observations. People convince themselves that their project will never come to fruition, and they quit. Most of the time, all that is needed is rejuvenation.

I have an activity that I engage in every month which is great rejuvenation for me. I get together with some mentors who are helping me with a project I’m working on. They provide guidance and advice for me, and we all use each other as sounding boards. In addition, they are very complimentary of my efforts and encourage me to stay the course, keep working hard and be patient. Whenever I leave that meeting, I feel an entire new surge of energy for my project and have a wonderful “second wind”. Without this, and other things I do to rejuvenate, I believe I’d continue to get dull and possibly lose interest in the project. I would definitely not be as effective as I should be. However, by making sure to “re-charge my batteries” on regular intervals, I am able to keep going with the right effort and attitude.

Whatever you are passionate about in your life, you can always know that it is very important for you to pursue it will everything you’ve got. I suggest you make sure and have rejuvenation built into your schedule, so you can see your vision become reality.

Today I am grateful to be rejuvenated.

I’m reading this on 3’26 thinking that my experiences and solutions are paralleling your advice, Clancy. I joined a new Teachers as Writers group on Wednesday and produced a piece on your Friday topic. It was very rejuvenating to get together with other frustrated creatives and put my thoughts on paper.
